Position: Senior Broadcast Engineer
Description:
Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility.\rThis includes supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, ensuring compliance with computer security policies, and managing projects such as system design, integration, and commissioning.\rThe role requires a combination of maintenance and project management or system engineering skills, with support needs spanning seven days a week and certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule.\rDay-to-day activities involve system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities, preventative maintenance, assisting Studio Operations with technical setup, collaborating with production and operations teams to implement solutions, installing and updating equipment and systems software, repairing and troubleshooting to the module level, and managing special projects and emergency situations.
Requirements: Required skills and experience: \r- Knowledge of IP networks and digital TV (HDSDI).\r- Ability to read system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities.\r- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent interpersonal skills.\r- Ability to support a 24x7 production environment and willingness to learn new production technologies.\r- Preferred experience in live production environments including familiarity with Omneo, Avid Media Composer, Avid Interplay, and Chyron graphics systems.\r- Strong customer focus, self-starter attitude, ability to meet deadlines, and excellent communication skills.\r- Broadcast engineer experience is a must, preferably with a background at recognizable organizations such as ESPN, ABC, or PBS. Operator experience is not a fit.\r- Must be able to work onsite in Stamford, CT.\r- Knowledge and experience with computer server installation and maintenance.\r- Specific experience with Sony cameras and switchers, EVS Servers, Evertz and Grass Valley routing, RTS Intercom, Calrec audio consoles, Tektronix and Leader test and measurement systems.\r- Familiarity with SMPTE 2110 standards, system design, AutoCAD, project management, wireless audio, 1080P and 4K HDR production, and comms systems (RTS ADAM).\r- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in a television broadcast environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.\r- BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.\r- Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software such as audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment.\r- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
