We are currently seeking a Logistics Operations Coordinato r to join our team in Baytown, Texas. In this role, you will oversee key aspects of our import and shipping operations, ensuring a seamless flow of goods while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively address operational challenges.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & OBJECTIVES

• Delivery Coordination : Schedule and organize delivery appointments with carriers, forwarders, and truckers for import containers, ensuring the timely return of empty containers.
• Shipment Monitoring: Track and monitor import shipments and empty returns, providing daily and weekly delivery updates to internal teams.
• Vendor Communication: Liaise with ocean carriers, forwarders, truckers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Warehouse Collaboration: Coordinate with the warehouse team to streamline receiving processes and promptly report discrepancies following established procedures.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to shipping, receiving, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Issue Resolution: Address and resolve issues such as damages, shortages, or non-conformance to specifications.
• Order Management: Prepare and issue Delivery Orders to drayage companies and maintain accurate records of orders and purchase order (PO) statuses.
• Sales Order Processing: Issue Sales Orders for customer shipments, coordinating with the sales and warehouse teams to manage freight movements.
• Loading Verification: Confirm that all loadings meet customer requirements, including skid count, carton count, labeling, pallet size, and documentation.
• Pre-Shipment Review: Conduct pre-shipment checks, verifying pick lists, packing slips, and Bills of Lading to ensure accuracy.
• Pickup Readiness: Confirm the readiness of cargo for the next day’s pickup appointments, ensuring all shipping documents and labels are in place.
• Operational Problem-Solving: Proactively address challenges encountered during the shipping process and coordinate with truckers to ensure on-time pickups.
• Continuous Improvement: Seek solutions to operational challenges to maintain smooth and efficient workflows.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of shipping regulations and compliance standards.
