Job Description

Bookkeeper – Multifamily Property


Location: Remote (LATAM preferred)
Compensation: 1600-2000 USD per month (the higher end is preferred)
Industry: Real Estate – Property Management
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, standard business hours 8am to 5pm in PST

 

About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a growing multifamily property management business. This individual will be responsible for accurate financial recordkeeping, budget oversight, reconciliation tasks, and providing critical support to ownership in driving operational efficiency and transparency. The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, strong AppFolio proficiency, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a dynamic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-charge bookkeeping, including A/P, A/R, deposits, and financial statement analysis
     
  • Manage reconciliation processes across properties and with ownership
     
  • Conduct credit card and bank reconciliations regularly
     
  • Handle accounts payable activities, including invoice processing and vendor payments
     
  • Support budget-related functions including ongoing budget management, reporting, and forecasting
     
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports such as cash flow forecasts, draw schedules, P&Ls, and Balance Sheets
     
  • Maintain proper documentation across owner, tenant, and vendor files
     
  • Prepare and deliver end-of-month financial packages, including calculating management fees
     
  • Provide documentation for quarterly and year-end tax prep in coordination with external CPA
     
  • Maintain company insurance policies and ensure they are current and compliant
     
  • Ensure all financial operations align with internal controls and best practices
     
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, owners, and team members
     

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a property management or real estate setting
     
  • Strong knowledge of multifamily property financial workflows and terminology
     
  • Proficient in AppFolio property management software
     
  • Skilled in Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, etc.)
     
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently
     
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service mindset
     
  • Familiarity with tax documentation processes and budget oversight
     
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with evolving priorities
